Secret

I started working on a funk track this week, and then...took a radical turn into dark ambient territory.  I abandoned the loops I had--they didn't seem to lead to much--and instead I did a few passes with my Pure Data randomized pitch-shifting network (random pitch shift, pan, delay, ring mod, time-to-update, and maximum parameters), and imported those into Live at different speeds.  All tracks but one went through the modulation delay network I did in Max/MSP, and the exception (which sounds like speech through radio interference, but was just rapid shift and modulation) went to a convolution reverb.  (The modulation delay cascaded into that same reverb.)

Everything got some high-pass filter and 2-bus compression, as well as a notch across the board around 3K to keep it from being an icepick.

The title comes from some free association on the atmosphere of the piece. (Later I realized it might be inaudible on small speakers, which does add to the secrecy.)
