A Year, Tonight

By miraclemiles on January 1, 2017 10:21 pm

Participating in Weekly Beats has been one of the best musical experiences I have ever had. I finally learned some skills I have wanted to learn for years, and the deadlines pushed me to actually finish things. Looking forward to what comes next on this musical journey. For this week I wanted an end of the year song, to put a nice exclamation point on this whole year of music making and ... life. Kind of lofty ambition for a week. So this is kind of that, but really it's just another song I created in a week. Not as good as some weeks, better than others. Had a bunch of ideas and decided to keep ... a bunch of them in here. Wanted a party song, I think. So I think the chaos in here is like a party, and it's a song I want to hear at a party, but probably just the party that's in my head smile . Had one night of introspective and meaningful vocal attempts, then some just some party feel-good vocals. Both were just off the cuff, and kept some of both in here. Writing lyrics and figuring out vocals is a goal for next year. Had fun doing more vinyl scratching and sampling too. There's some drum and bass sounds from Korg Gadget app, some Afro DJ Mac packs I've used throughout the year, and some good old Ableton instruments.  chopped and replayed. Vocals processed with VocalSynth plugin. Guitar by dear friend and collaborator AM Faulks who has made many of my songs this year something special.

Very nice!  I feel like this is a big house party and I am drifting from room to room, enjoying the different feelings and moods

The entire year, and more, encapsulated in one song! Neat.

There is a party in my head, too. Very nice. Wish you all the best for 2017.

awesome vibe here! smile))))
All the best for the new year and hopefully see you back in 2018!!

A fitting celebration!!! Unique!! smile

I thought I had already commented on this, but I'm not seeing it now so here goes again.  The track has a chaotic feel, but it also captures the feel and good vibes of a hopping party.  Good luck in 2017!

It's totally a party song...
The brass sounds and the voices give me a carribean party feel...
Oh, not to forget the vibraphone. It's a marvelous mix...
Good luck in 2017!

The sound and feel of a new year's eve party! Great end of year track.
Best wishes for 2017!

Party on!! A cool way to end the year for sure!  I hope you have an awesome 2017! smile
