Just As Unreliable

So this week I bought an Akai MPD-18 with a view to changing up my drum programming workflow and eventually spicing up my live show a bit with some live beats. To that end, here's a slightly unexciting but promising toe in the water of live controllerism.

16 pads, 16 sounds (plus an LFO'd pad in the background to hold it together), no quantisation, no metronome (unless you count the LFO), no correction afterwards. Full of mistakes and sloppy timing, but not a bad start I think.

I like where this is going... a nice groove. The off-timing mistakes adds a charming live-sounding rawness, and if used in a few places in a final mix, could even work being somewhat playful and charming.

is good
