As Easy As Pi

By mattnida on April 25, 2014 5:48 pm

Slightly new territory for me this week. I've been listening to a lot of glitchy hip-hop/electronica from Japan lately, especially the likes of Daisuke Tanabe, Yosi Horikawa and jealousguy, and really wanted to make something along those lines. Here's my first attempt. It's pretty rough around the edges, but hopefully I'll be able to refine the style a bit over the next few weeks.

Bah, what do you make that isn't awesome?

Sweet as!

Them sounds seem quite familiar, you must have a go-to VST or something?

@iLKke - thanks! Yes, there's a couple of go-tos, although not that many on this one. Bass and the phasing pad thing are from Arturia's Prophet V2, which I use a lot and *love*. The riff is a marimba sample from the Fairlight library. All the other stabs and noises are just tiny little samples taken from 'stuff' in my iTunes library wink

this caught my ear today! a really nice beat. I am swinging my head around right now! fo realz
