Pretty happy with this week's submission. Maybe it could be a little more varied, but I really couldn't be bothered doing too much more with it (plus I really didn't have time to). There's a nice little change-up that I was pretty happy with as well, which I won't spoil for you guys.
Hope you enjoy it! smile

P.S. Also, half-way through already?!?!?! How crazy is that! Congrats to everyone that's made it this far! big_smile

Great gif by the way.

OOOO I got to the change up!  Very sneaky!

Incredible track, truly.  What did you technically do for the change up?  I tried counting along and it seemed like the beat didn't come in simply by doubling the main beat.  There was some sort of slow down or you started on a completely different time?

Thanks orangedrink, glad you liked the track!
I used a thing called metric modulation. Basically, if you divide each beat into 16th notes and call each 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively, I kept the same crotchet (quarter note) bpm but reduced the length of a beat so that it only had 3 sixteenth notes (which then technically kind of become eighth notes I suppose), effectively changing it up to compound time. The reason it worked is because of the arp pattern which, in the 4/4 section, is essentially playing a 3 note pattern with a bit of a fill at the end, so that '3' feel is already there. It's a neat little trick to give something a faster feel whilst technically still being kind of in the same tempo.
Sorry if that explanation is kind of hard to understand, I actually find it kind of difficult to explain, hahaha. If you still have questions, try googling metric modulation, I'm sure there are other people on the internet who can explain it much better than I can. It's a fun little technique though, and you can get some really awesome tempo change ups with it.

WOW!  I knew something was up!  Thank you so much for explaining.  It made the tempo change so much more pleasant than just going double time.  Wow.  I'm learning so much from the WB crew!

I just drummed along and was able to easily transition along.  The arpeggio pattern with the 3 effectively disguised the tempo transition.

Excellent!

Glad my explanation was enough to help you figure it out! big_smile
