Ancient Order

By Lyons on July 20, 2014 8:12 am

Been having lots of fun mixing with monitors and smashing out heaps of practice while on uni break.
Here is my attempt at something vaguely world music related. It's so western that I can taste pizza while listening.

Really struggle to create more complex rhythms and chords since the process is more difficult but I'm going to force myself to take some chances in the area soon!

Nice use of harmonics. And it does sound "Western." How many tracks?

Lovely track. It reminds of an old locomotive traveling through different landscapes. Good work!

Nice, and I like when the pizz (no pizza) comes in.
Did you record without a click?

I'll agree about the harmonics--really nice tonality.  Evocative!

Sounds great and really shows off the versatility of the bass.  Nice job.

There are 17 tracks in this but they don't all play at once. I only run about 6 tracks at once, running any more and it gets murky without perfect intonation.

!! Really dig that analogy and totally agree with you. It even gives me some more ideas for developing this track more.

I recorded this with a click but there are still rhythm problems that drive me mental. It turns into a chain reaction eventually where fixing one phrase will cause the other phrase to sound odd until the whole track is re-recorded. I find it hard to record without a click.

Thankyou! Eventually I would like have solo double bass able to pull off heaps of different genres of music. Then export to a live product.

Thanks all!

Ha! And I think I'm doing well if I can cope with 3 on cello!
