Secret Clappers Society

By laguna on March 23, 2014 11:57 pm

Original project from 2008, when I sourced the tabla samples and the electronic skeletal. Updated to Ableton Live 9 and finally mastered and mixed at the last minute, as usual.

Trying to achieve more with less. Call it minimal digital funk, if you dig smile

All clapping performed by yours truly

Loving the tabla! It's such an expressive instrument and this track makes me wonder why it's not used more in electronic music big_smile

Completely agree! There are really dope tabla grooves on freesound. I guess we should move away from the 808 and 909s from time to time

this is fucking. good. is it illegal to clap before the song is over?

I like this minimal digital funk.... very chill yet pulsating and groovy. That square lead that starts in the middle is pretty rad!

Great stuff, love the way the clapping and the other percussive elements work together.

Thank you guys, really! Glad you're listening

Definetely made for your own clapping pleasure. I just did 4 tracks of clapping. Wish I had more clappers around to help me out smile

Lead comes courtesy of Propellerhead's Substractor, a very straightfordward yet underated synth, with some phasing and an instant 5th above it.

i've always been a fan of tables, djembes and all the fun world percussion instruments.  I wish I had a closet full of em to choose from smile  The claps are awesome as well.  The whole rhythm is just mesmerizing, good job!  Really enjoyed this.
