Quantized and confused

Slightly melancholic piece for the Ecuator of Weeklybeats!!! We've made it to the middle of it smile

Rendered 4 minutes before the deadline, and maybe a little rough in the mix.

I started with some OpenModPlug Tracker sketch that I finally synchronized between all my Linux, my OSX and my Windows machines (thanks Wine/CrossOver!). That's some technical rant I'd save you, that consumed most of the week. Long story short, Sunday evening and I just had 8 bars of drums and a rather "meh" background of sorts... And almost any clue what to do next!

I tried my usual cheap tricks to add some life (Not sure if they worked) smile

- the send of the background/atmospheric sample is then send to a pitch shifter (-1 octave) -> delay -> sidechain and then to a reverb with mutual feedback.
- filter some elements so you seem to be a clever producer wink

Then, inspired mostly by my jealousy about Ipaghost talent, I tried to "jam" on my keyboard, with some lame result that of course had to be heavily quantized. Tried to stay on key... Sounded a little melancholic, I think (but still not "Ipaghostly Mellow").

I should keep trying... Maybe one day

Glad we all arrived here at week 26. We made half a year worth of songs, dudes!!! No doubt, the incredible amount of talent I see here keeps me pushing forward

You did a nice mellange of elements. The hiphopbeat together with a 303 and a melancholic synth melody.

Halfway yes!! Congrats y'all! smile
What's that synth you use? I believe it sounds exactly like the synth on Marvin Gay's "dance with me" (instrumental version) --- i think it's that song at least ... Great stuff. As usual!! smile

Hah! "Ipaghost talent" is an oxymoron! lol!

Really cool 303 line in the middle of the track yikes  especially the nice buildup to the ipaJam wink
and yay for filtered elements, they're my best friend in ableton smile
Nice job!

Lovely melancolic vibe

I suffer from jealousy about Ipaghost talent AS WELL AS jealousy about laguna talent!  Glad I'm not alone though

Nice mellow groove, perfectly-tailored synths.

WB is the audio equivalent of Lake Woebegone, where everyone is "above average." ::)

loving the atmosphere
