Gold plated lips

By laguna on November 6, 2016 12:37 am

I'm uploading on a rainy saturday evening, after messing with my first project on the tiny Akai MPC 500. Everything has been sequenced on the box. I'm still learning the machine, so don't expect wonders: a fairly simple arrangement and a short lenght.

Ableton has been used as a recorder for the main mix, while adding a few ambience touches with M4L's Diffuse and Convolution Reverb Pro. After that, my usual simple mastering (mid/side EQ and gentle compression).

Hope you enjoy this one. I hope to advance with this system, once I've decided to keep it and get rid of other "fancy" boxes I really don't "get", quite frankly.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I like it, and look forward to what else you manage to get out of the Akai! I enjoy the abstractness of the beat a lot!

Thanks, man! I'm still trying to get my head around this box. It's easy to get lazy and just do some classic "8 bars, rinse, repeat" kind of thing, but I guess the limitations are just fine.

Nice to hear you found it "abstract" enough. I was afraid it was too generic smile

love those pew pew sounds!

I like the play and contrast the hats have to the pew pew parts smile

this is hot and I love your commitment to stick with an instrument.  I need to do that.

love the melody pads and all the pop pew kablammos
