I wondered how secrets sound within the heart of a woman married to a classified codebreaker smile

Messy mix, needs some better EQ. I upgraded the delay plugin I was using just during production and it messed with the whole feedback adjustment... So take my advice: don't mess with your software in the middle of the song's creation.

Ableton Live 9, Meeblip for the aliased and dirty bass, Korg Poly61M on the pads, Pianoteq for the keys

The codebreaker would need to know DNA, yes?  I don't know what could have gotten messed up -- piece sounds good to me smile

this is wicked! excellent build up and composition ...and great groove

ferris wheels churning out gumbo, i like it!

when the beat comes in it really earns its keep. Wasnt too sure of the sawyy synth tho

You mean the intro synth or the bass? I meant those when I said I wasn't happy with the EQ, because I upgraded one plugin and suddenly everything that went through there got brighter mids... I wish I had more time to put some balance back in the mix, but... you know about the Weeklybeats deadline, right? Sunday evening and still messing with the levels smile

Guess that spells SEINFIELD backwards in octal, encoded in base 64 wink

Your chiptune of the week is great, by the way!

Even your "messy mix" blows most stuff out of the water. And I was in the US Navy so I know about stuff like that.

Loving the no-nonsense drums! And, I can definitely identify with the "don't mess with the software" advice smile

Wow the meeblip kicks some behind! Reminds me (in a positive way) of the Nine Inch Nails/Perfect Drug remix. I love how you combined drums and piano and... is that a mellotron flute sample?? Nice.

Actually it says "What is the deal with ovaltine? The mug is round. The jar is round. They should call it Roundtine."
Somehow we just mashed up Seinfeld, A Christmas Story, and cryptology....

Hey, thanks for the NIN comparison!

Indeed Meeblip, with all its digital aliasing, could be wonderfully nasty if you find some place for it in the mix. It was a little bit difficult for me to start with it because I was too "computer minded"... You know, all adjustments nicely stored in my project, bla bla bla. Now I'm enjoying just messing with the knobs until I find something useful, record it and then tweaking again so the adjustments are gone (Mine is the original Meeblip with no preset storage).

The background is build with some reversed piano along the forward piano in different octaves. 3 kinds of delays and some convolution reverb. Initial PWM pad made with an '83 Korg Poly61M. No flute samples on this one... But I used some lofi 90's cheapo version of the Mellotron library on my previous track: "The Phantom Cabaret" smile

Thanks again for listening and commenting

Man, FAA, US Navy, awesome pop lyrics every week... Are you some kind of musical Classified Asset? Hehe

I hope to convert my CPL-IR(H) license to FAA this summer, if I could manage all the requirements, by the way wink

I'm now remastering those "no-nonsense drums" with a little less brightness on the ride/hihat-ish sounds... Guess you also suffered from "Oh wait! There's a new version X.x of that plugin! I sure must upgrade just right now, the mix will sound better instantly" smile

love the piano and the great work on the delays fx. The drums in combination with the bass are bad-ass!

Great track, excellent dirty bass from the Meeblip.

not sure how i missed this, but glad i heard it, i love how the pads lead into the kick ass drum beat.  The lo-fi drum section sounds sweet too, especially with the pan delay.  Nice job!
