Steam Dream

By Ipaghost on March 6, 2016 11:58 pm

The main pad sound was from the Vancouver steam clock I recorded back in 2014.
I started this track for last WB, and decided to use it this week, since I've been busy with the Red Bull Music academy application.

This is the clock in question.

I rediscovered an old one this week, too.  Another nice performance from you.

This one's marvelous. I think you've got a lot to offer, so best of luck with the Red Bull thing.

Good to hear your excursions in downtempo (is the bass heavily bit-reduced?). Kudos for bringing back the pan flute from the 90's with such a style

Bad thing is now I've got to search for a GIF of a cat surfing cosmic waves on top of a Korg M1 workstation (you've been warned) wink

No M1's yet, but cute cat. Still searching...

never fails, great track once again, good luck with the application smile

Thanks! I personally think this one needs a lot of work, but I can't think of how...

Good luck yo!

Also really good mix!

Soo good. heart Best of luck with the RBMA app, they'd be fools not to pick you, fools I say!

shakuhachi!

Very cool how you build chords with separate samples for each note. Nice modulation too, keeps things going strong til the end.

PUMPIN'! Great work!

I like to call it the 90's porn flute!

Not sure how you noticed that detail! I guess I could have pitched a single note, but I try to use as many notes as I have available, and pitch them in between. Most samplers can do this, but I find kontakt to be the least painful. I'm actually surprised it sounds ok coming from a cell phone video!

I love your work!  I hope you get into the RBMA!  I had no idea such a thing existed, I'll have to apply next year!

Gorgeous track. Good luck with the application!

You should! Although the application is really grueling 17 pages, 50 questions, plus a cd, a couple of photos. Try to start early!
