ambient improvisation. a live performance in one take. monome, synthesizer, modular, fx, and field recordings. sparkling lights, dappled shadows, and slowly moving photons.

the soundcloud link has a picture of the setup for this. the monome is used a controller for mlrv, which is sample-cutting-playing software running on the computer, rewired into ableton. mlrv holds a rhodes loop that i recorded immediately prior to this session, which is set to play at various speeds and directions on several different tracks (one track to a row on the monome). the buttons on the monome, 16 to a row, are used to jump between different playback positions within each copy of the loop, as well as operate mlrv's builtin delay and feedback effects.

The mixture of the bird sounds with the backwards swells is superb. Faved & saved!

The other tracks on Soundcloud are also excellent. ::)

thanks so much! birds are the cutest, whether audio recordings or gifs.

Ah man, this is lovely. I love that breathy choir-esque beneath it all.
