sitari - felt through years

By george bowles on March 6, 2016 8:42 am

a bit of a nostalgia piece, about getting old and having a different perspective, especially when looking back on life. an old korg poly 800 is recorded into reaper along with a midi track/parallel midi synth to give it variety of tone... recorded into a tape cassette deck. played back into the computer manipulating the pitch, speed, and tone controls on my American Printing House For The Blind tape machine. then last step was recording beats out of my korg volca beats as an overdub straight to the computer, and then mixing and mastering the whole thing. turned out pretty neat although i would've liked to have spent more time on it and make it tighter overall. still, the loose feel kind of fits the piece though. inspired by aphex twin, mouse on mars, and pole.

Abandoned in a long hallway… very atmospheric.

was going for emotional impact and memory, seems in good effect, thanks!

beat is like a ticking clock, and the melody just manhandles the other parts and does whatever it wants. Bit like life?

As a cassette tape lover, I can really feel the emotion in this.  We should collaborate on some music one of these days!  I'm in Chicago every so often.

yeah the melody was weird, it did not make a lot of sense to me but somehow i could not figure out what to get rid of so i kinda just left it as is. kind of like life!

thanks! my main focus has been on mastering and sound design... sonic coloration, texture, and fine tuning.
