Mmm...how many people have heard of Daphne Oram? How many have heard of ADA LOVELACE?
During my entire undergraduate mus tech. degree we were introduced to the work of a total of THREE electronic/electroacoustic music composers (and note that the preface to each introduction began with a mention of their sex/sexual orientation – i.e. a&b are lesbians, c is now a woman). Very gay, indeed.
In any event, the real author of the 10 Rules was Sister Corita Kent and her art students at the time (did you check the link I posted?). I don't know about "genius", inspired, yes.

That'st rue, inspired is a better term. I've heard of Lovelace too, but am not familiar with her music.
It's like Nadia Boulenger (or however it's spelled), massive impact on 20th century music, but hardly talked about in favour of Bartok et al.

Unfortunately, I've not heard much of Boulanger's music. But, amongst others, she taught John Cage.
