SUPERNOVA

By dj someguy on June 25, 2016 7:54 pm

Summer is slowly kicking in in Brussels, so I thought I'd make a bit of a disco-ish track, slowing down the bpm and make the bass a bit more prominent. Didn't do any mastering on this one, but it sounds alright, I think.

The whole thing came quite fast to me, though I did have some difficulties putting it together, turning it into a real song.  So let me know if you have any ideas about the progression of the track. Also: I'm worried that towards the end it gets a bit boring. Is it? Or is it just me getting tired of the track from working too long on it?

Have a nice week y'all!

It reminds me more of a soft Carl Craig song than any sort of disco, though I get what you mean. NIce pulsating "italo" bass... Maybe at the end you could play a little bit with the drums, but I don't think the song gets "stalled" in any moment.

It would be nice to make a remix of it at take it to new directions, however preserving this original mix as the mellowest vision.

Thanks!
It is true that towards the end things could and probably should have evolved a bit more. I might still work on it a bit though, maybe working a bit towards a climax there too. But for now, as a basic idea, I like it. smile
If you're interested in remixing, I can send the track to you!

Great mix homie! Everything sounds pretty good in terms of the mix, and the progression is pretty clean. The song is short enough to keep the listener interested. If you had to change anything, I think the little hi pitched synth in the back could evolve a bit throughout the song. That would add to the track a lot.

Hey man! thanks! I agree, listening back to it I think it's a good basis for a great track, but not yet a mature track ... It's a bit too much of the same, the snare could use some more "snap", etc ... I'm definitely going to work a bit more on it, cause there's something there. Somewhere smile

That chord change at around 30% was so exciting since I had been waiting for it.  Satisfying!!!

The mix sounds great and it's got a fantastic groove to it.  Maybe some sort of additional synth layer could come in near the 3/4's mark, but it sounds good as is.

Dope!!  I really like the old school synth bass on this and the hihats, agree with others maybe another synth or variation on the drums near the last quarter, but the length of the track seems good

Yeah, as mentioned on top: some more variation should be built in towards the end, maybe some kind of climax or smth ... Might do that at some point ... smile

Nice work, the underlying pad sounds really add to the track.  I don't think it's boring, maybe a stutter chop on the higher synth line, but still has a suhweet sound smile

Mix up the tempos, drop the drums for 4-8 bars? Just what I'd do...
