Sequential 202

By cTrix on January 22, 2012 4:34 pm

Hoooooly shizzle.  OK - once again - it's the night before "oh, I'll just mash something out on the synths"... but then turned into whatever you'll call this!  Roland MC-202 MicroComposer (c.1983), Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 (c.1982), Ride Cymbal (c.1990) with X/Y mic.  Kick drum and additional percussion made on the MC-202 (such a great unit).  The lead, bass and most parts was were played on the MC-202's little membrain keyboard!!  No CV or MIDI. I used the on board step sequencers on both the 202 and the Prophet twaeking the tempo knobs to keep sync.  I'd rework it all buuuut I ran out of TIME.  So uploading it as is.  Might re-record the drums, add mallet cymbal rolls, brushes snare line, more ambient layers later.  In fact I think I need to do a Weeklybeats Reworked 2013 where I revisit everything! :-P

Tasty sounds. Lead sound reminds me of Street Fighter 2 Turbo, but much cooler.

This is sick dude.

Oh, and the 202 runs on 6 x C batteries!!  Same set has lasted 2 years. I plan on taking it to the park in the future and sitting under a tree with it. :-)

Hahahaha only just noticed your "ALRIGHT THIS TIME IM RECORDING". Of course you'd leave that in you dork.

so good! I wish I could steal your magical powers of "mashing together" something and have it turn out so amazingly good.

That 202 has so much range. I always just thought of it as an acid box.

You tricked me with the fade out in the middle, then the lead came back! Really awesome, this is my favorite track you've done for WB so far.

I'm a sucker for old analog. Been looking for a 202 for awhile. You really made it sing in this track! smile

Rad tune!
I liked the voice sample at the beginning *wink* Sometimes, when you think you made a mistake, it turns out that this is what you were supposed to do.
Maybe you will not have to revisit your tracks next year because that's how they are supposed to sound, with all the spontaneity that you put into them.

Catching up on my week 3 before diving into week 4 over the coming days. This tune is very pleasant. Nice work cTrix
