Curtain Call for Lovely Strangers

By Chris Dotson on December 27, 2014 7:52 pm

Well, here we are. By some miracle I completed this god-forsaken project and now I'm going to miss it. This last track is clearly a bit over the top, but fuck it.

For the sake of record-keeping, this last piece brings together the patchblocks, MS2000, piano, field recordings, Samplr, and a bit of Ableton tricks all smashed together into a huge mess of sound.

This track leaves my ears ringing while also putting me to sleep, which is exactly how I want to end.

Thanks to every single one of you weirdos.

Lovely yet grinding dense drone to take out the year.  Nice one.

Thanks r, always appreciated. :-)

I frankly could not tell which element is which, but the whole atmosphere of the drone is wonderful. Nice to see a Patchblock user around here (still intrigued by those little beasts)

Happy New Year and keep experimenting on 2015!!!

That's perfect, laguna. Glad the mixing worked out for you. :-)

The patchblocks are really amazing; I'm so glad I found a reasonable way to use them for this project. I'm even more excited to have more time to dedicate to them alone in the coming weeks. I don't know what I would do without another project looming now that this one is done.

Whoa, I feel you!!! I spent 2013 without producing a single track!!! Difference is that after WB 2014 i feel pumped and anxious to polish some things and start releasing some EP/Bandcamp stuff instead of Soundcloud posts.

Hope to hear from you soon in another project!!!

That's a hell of an improvement over last year. Good for you!

I never had an issue with completing things; I rarely get the nerve to put them all in one place for other people to hear. I think one project next year will be to put finishing touches on the few tracks I really dig from WB2014 and turn it into a release or two for Bandcamp. I think we're all going to have a surge of that from this project, which is a great result.

A brilliant way to end the year, hope to hear more of your music via soundcloud in 2015. All the best!

Thanks!

Yeah, I think I might get back into my old plan of posting a bunch of patchblocks sketches over there. Now that i have free time to spare, that is. ;-)
