Bye T1

This is what I would likely consider my pop hit of the century.

Created using my standard set-up of an iPad running Samplr (providing the wall of drones) and a Korg EMX (for the beats). I recorded into Ableton and the only post-processing is some behind-the-scenes snipping of shitty takes, but you shouldn't be able to tell where that is. There's also a smidge of limiter/compression on the back end. I wanted to mess with some of the arrangement a little more but didn't have the time for it this week.

Technically, this also fits the theme for week 6 (reverse samples, etc.), because I literally do that on every single thing I work on.

I hope ya'll enjoy it.

Very nice!

seriously, how great is samplr? i'm aching for a couple additional features though, such as trim/crop, and more robust midi integration. really minor complains though, it's a super fun and convenient app. great work!

So very great. I feel like I spent years trying to build something like Samplr in Supercollider and Max/MSP, it's so perfect. I don't mind the lack of sample editing features, since I use it in conjunction with AudioShare to store my samples anyway.

I'm a little terrified of it getting MIDI though, since I'm itching to buy some slick controller like the Arturia ones but as of now don't have a compelling reason. smile

guess i need to check out AudioShare! yeah, tweaking the FX on samplr via a midi controller would open up tons of performance possibilities. i'm mostly eager for finer control over clock/sync destinations/sources. really eager to use it to pull clock-synced loops from my mixer during a performance and tweak it out.

Dare I ask what MIDI controller(s) you use? I'm opening a Pandora's Box for myself here, but whatever.

in addition to my push, i have a livid instruments alias8. pretty much an updated, modern and heavier-duty version of the tried-and-true UC-33e. i've yet to hook it up to my ipad via CCK, so i'm not sure if it will provide enough juice or not, but i'm bound to try at some point. it usually controls effects within Ableton during my live shows, and my partner has used it for her live visual performances.

the new arturia beatstep looks like an exciting option for new MIDI stuff, i will say.

Yeah, that Livid looks very nice. I can imagine a ton of things it could do. I'm still trying to figure out what I would want a controller to, um, control exactly.

The Beatstep looks great, and I was already tempted by the Minilab before it. Might eventually grab one and see how it plays.

I love the drony strings sound. Great tune.

Great Seriously awesome

Nice transitions.
