Beenut Jr.

By Catthew O. on May 1, 2016 11:33 pm

Here's a little song for a fellow named Beenut (son of Beenut). I didn't name him, you have Aircraft to thank for that (I did name her, though not legally)
Beenut Jr. lives in the woods now, collecting berries and stealing hamburgers and all that woods stuff.

I don't really remember what Beenut looks like and also I'm bad at drawing, but this is probably close?

One thing I really need is a way to reduce line noise on this board for recording these synth parts. It's only really an issue for quiet parts but dang, it's driving me crazy today.

Emu XL-1 is the main hero of this song, for which I made a bunch of new sounds, with accompaniment from Alesis SR-16, Yamaha MU50, soundfonts made from voices, a recording of a Little Tikes "tap-a-tune" from a song I made when I was 15, and samples taken out of SNES games, a softsynth channel or three(?), cut up noises made with guitar pedals running into themselves, samples of a bandmate's drum set, and my small modular synth.

You know, last week I wrote something and had it all ready to go, but I sat down to watch Rurouni Kenshin, one of the cats starts to take a crap outside the litter box in the living room, and the next thing you know I'm waking up in bed and it's my 27th birthday, and for some reason I have to get up and drive for 5 hours.

so when is beenut jr's point-and-click adventure coming out?

That beat!!  Hehehehe.  This is so fun :-)  The Extreme Lead really sounds solid in this.... I assume doing the bass?

As soon as Beenut Sr approves... though I guess he's old enough to make decisions for himself

Nice track! smile

Excellent soundtrack; great use of foreground/background mixing.

Happy tune!

Amazing track... complex rhythms and great synth sounds.  Really good mix too.

I actually thought about your phrasing while I mixed this week. I've never actually thought of it as having layers in the same capacity as Photoshop, even though that's totally how I approach it.

Thank you thank you!

Would watch the Beenut Jr. animated feature.  Really enjoying the chaos in the middle there, as well as the happy melodies.
