just impulse-bought a Roland Boutique A-01! basically it consists of a monophonic 8-bit waveform generator (saw, square and PWM), some low/high/bandpass filters and LFO for doing some basic FM-esque sounds.... and on top of that you get an integrated pattern sequencer. roundly criticized in reviews for not being all that useful, but as a chip guy i thought this would be a great, compact companion to my live sets =P
so i just did a beginner's live-jam putting the step sequencer through its paces and messing around with the various controls. turns out it's pretty surprisingly able at some of the more sought-after acid sounds! slapped some drums from KORG gadget over top.
