Too Much Invested

So much work, so much time. Hang on tight, don’t let it all slip away.

WORK BREAKDOWN

I decided to start tracking (roughly) how much time I work on the song and what I'm doing.

Tuesday, Jan 26: started song. Worked for about 90 minutes. Laying down loops and chords and playing.

Wednesday, Jan 27: listened. Worked for about 30 minutes. Mostly listening, song structure.

Thursday, Jan 28: worked for about 15 minutes, 120 minute break for One Hour Compo, then another 60 minutes. Mostly redoing guitar parts.

Friday, Jan 29: started xx:11 PM to xx:53, about 40 minutes. Mostly redoing guitar parts.

Sunday, Jan 30: started xx:15 AM to xx+1:35, about 80 minutes. Redoing some guitar parts. Some cleaning up of the mix. Spent the last 30-40 minutes on finalizing the mix (especially loudness).

Total this week on this song: 5 hours 15 minutes

The mixing is definitely well done. Time well spent! Did you record live bass for this or is that a synth?

Thanks for the comment! The bass and the guitar(s) are live, the drums and the synth sounds (there are a few - a low bass/sine wave and a swirly pad) are sequenced.

I'm always impressed by musicians here who record there stuff - nice work! Also, shout out to OHC, I'm tempted to get back into that too smile keep on keeping your creative juices flowing

i really like how the drums pop out of the mix, but i think the lead guitar is a little too loud! also it might help to have some sort of 'chorus' motif that you keep coming back to. the mixing is definitely improving...
