Steady Path

Focus your eyes. Focus your breath. Stay steady. Discipline is the way.

RESET: I started noodling with a song for about an hour, but I deleted it and started over because I wasn’t sure where the other one was going.

No guitar this week, I just went synthesizers. Nord Lead is getting a lot of use in my songs these days.

This song ended up having a lot of House influences, which wasn’t intended initially but ended up fine.

Thursday, July 14, 23:00 - 23:30. Adding a totally unrelated section because it’ll make me feel better.

Saturday, July 16, 8:30-8:45.

16:30 - 16:50.

Chords: A E F  and A C G

Sunday, 8:40 - 8:50. Continuing this. I’m not particularly motivated by this song, but let’s see if I can do something interesting. It’s a slow BPM compared to my other work so maybe some ambience would be a nice touch.

9:15 - 10:15. Or maybe not, this is a house track.

11:00 - 12:10. FInishing touches, adding a bunch of automation. Another simple track but I hope it’s catchy and has some decent production.

Normally I don’t bounce and listen to weeklybeats tracks on different speakers for WeeklyBeats (that process takes like hours) but I did at least the iMac internal speakers for this one to check the production. It wasn’t awesome but it was okay.

Total time: 2h 55m. Much shorter than usual this week.

I liked reading your approach.. There's some really nice sections in this whole track that catches me -- the keyboard jams wooo!

It's definitely helped me realize how I approach music composition and also gives me an idea of how I spend my time. I came into Weeklybeats with a lot of experience with one hour compositions, so I can work fast under pressure, but oddly enough, when my time opens up I end up thinking a lot more.
