Machine Ghosts
====

A story of the souls that linger inside the clockwork machines.

It kind of came together, production/polish could use a few more hours. Maybe this deserves a continuation, it doesn’t really resolve itself.

Sun, May 15, 21:40 - 22:25.

I missed a week of WeeklyBeats. sad

I normally get my song done and submitted by Sunday afternoon, but today I was going out so I figured I’d post it when I got home. I got home too late though, it was maybe 30 minutes after the deadline (and I thought that I had until 10 local time to submit). I had a partial song completed, but it was still relatively incomplete.

Intro: i iv VI V

E/B ; E/C ; E/C; E-D#

Bass notes:  E - A - C - D#

Chorus: VI VII i —

Bass notes: C D e

Mon, May 16, 21:00 - 22:00 (60m). Okay, I started over because I didn’t like the chord structure, but I overwrote the notes above. I think I had something like E D A C and I didn’t like that final chord.

Saturday,  May 21. 18:00 - 18:30ish (30m). I haven’t worked on this most of the week due to being busy but I’m back at it again. I am hoping to get decent chords and a decent song structure down. Sound design is relevant, but I think I’ve been distracted by it too much in the last few weeks so I want to get the song in first, then work on design.

20:30ish - 22:40 (130m).

Sun, May 22. 13:45 - 17:00 (195m). Still working on the parts, like the intro and the melodies that I want to convey. I have some melody ideas (noodling around is always a good way to solidify things!) but now I need to take those themes I like and back-port them back into the song.

Okay, after some restructuring, I have something of a decent composition on my hands. Now, I can work on stuff like sound design, cleanup, polish… except that I’m running really short on time and it’s not that realistic to get all of this done. Note to self: How can I get to this point faster next week so I have way more time to think about production, sound design, and polsihing?

Okay, somehow I managed to lose all of my rhythm guitar parts so I have to redo those.

Total time: 6h 55m. That’s almost 7 hours this week on this. Not sure that it shows, it ended up really coming together in the last 3 or so hours, which probably means I need more “song structure” practice.

Nice work. Tempo changes and range of sounds (music and sfx) are very ambitious and well done. Sounds epic!
