Drifting Away

By Arcana on February 7, 2016 3:49 pm

Tues, Feb 2 - 8:58 to 9:04 PM. Ideas exploration and initial noodling.

Wed, Feb 3 - 8:15 to 9:51 PM. For some reason I didn’t have a note attached to this session, so I’m really not sure what I did for this time span, probably did most of the verse.

Thurs, Feb 4 - 8:28 - 8:59 PM. Figuring out chords for the chorus.

Fri, Feb 5 - 8:57 - 9:54 PM. This song is kind of a lost cause, I think I’ll finish it up and work on something different.

Friday Feb 5 - 9:54-10:29 PM: Noodling around and goofing off. Guess which parts are the goofing off part and which is the “serious” part.

Sat. Feb 6 10:10 - 10:40 AM. I think I’m finished with this song, mostly going through and checking mixing and turning this into a production exercise.

Sun. Feb 7 9:50 - 10:43 AM. Redoing some bass parts and guitar parts. Deleted the end and redid it, but I think I’m going to call it for this week and try again next week. Take the bad with the good, right?

Unfortunately this song never really came together and I never could come up with a chorus that worked.

Total time this week: 3 hours 37 minutes.

that drone in the background adds a nice mysterious note, especially in the very beginning. i agree it sounds a little disjointed although there are some nice sounds in there! i dig the compressed snare drum and the delayed guitars.

I can almost guarantee you I'll listen to this song much longer than you've spent on making it; next year, because this year is all about all the songs.

This is a very satisfying instrumental rock tune.  Good stuff!

Not every song needs a chorus or even to be very structured at all, sometimes a meandering flow of ideas is nice also. I dig it
