Dark Diamond
==========

Wed. Apr 20, 10-15-10:38 PM. Noodling around, trying to make sounds and playing a few random bars. Feeling out what I can do this week.

Sat, Apr 23, 15:00 - 16:00. I didn’t time my progress well this week. I did some more noodling on Friday and some on Saturday morning but didn’t make any real progress. I’m doing a lot of sound design work right now trying to come up with more sounds that are appropriate for the kind of music I’m working on rather than composing the music itself.

17:18 - 17:30 PM. I need to check the intonation on my guitar.

10:00 - 11:00 PM. Working on some sound design and structure. I think I’ve recorded three bass parts now from my synth. That is a good thing because it means I’m actually using my synthesizer. I’m surprised it took me this long, honestly. The catalyst (oddly enough) was probably guitar-playing, which got my comfortable with the idea of noodling around live more often as well as recording audio.

Sun. Apr. 24, 10:00 - 11:50 AM. I started working more on the song but my attention is only half on it, so even though this says 2 hours it was a super distracted 2 hours.

Much of the time this week was on patch tweaking and learning how to coax that right sound out of my synths.

I used the Mono Evolver for gritty dirty bass sounds, Mono Evolver for one of the backing leads, Alchemy for its sine subbass, guitar for the lead, Logic Pro’s EFM FM softsynth for the bell, and MASCHINE for the drums. No Massive this week.

15:40 - 16:00 PM. Last listen. There are still a few mistakes and I’m not super satisfied with the sound design. Will continue to working on making more interesting sounds over the next week. Concentrating on synthesis has been a good experience.

Total time: 4h 12m. In reality it’s probably closer to 3h 30m due to distracted music-making this week.
