Touch of the Dizzies

By A Thorny Succulent on February 12, 2014 12:00 am

Wheee... My last two songs have been super long (7+ minutes) which is an interesting change of pace from my usual 30 seconds to 3 minutes! COOL?!

EDIT: Written in 5/4, 4/4, 2/4, 9/8, and 7/4.

This is weird in the most awesome ways. Well done!

Like the time-shifts. If it's 16-bit, is it still chip tune?

Yup, 16-bit / FM was used in the Genesis / Mega Drive, and is accepted among the chiptune community. Other 16-bit sounds from the Super Nintendo are also often used in chiptune. 8-bit tends to get the most attention, but there is definitely a strong 16-bit presence as well.

Since I'm using a soundchip emulator, my work is technically "fakebit," but that is also accepted in chiptune and there are many popular and talented chip artists (like disasterpeace) that use fakebit to produce their music. I personally like fakebit because it's quick, convenient, and allows me to use whatever weird writing process I like (I write 99% of my music in guitar tablature software).

Love that FM and the odd movement here - kooky! Nice work
